Not a gemstone, but something just as fascinating! Rosarita is a byproduct of gold smelting, which is when gold is separated from the ore it's mixed in with. The high temperatures used in the refining process create a gold infused glass like material, which sinks and bonds together to form vibrant red pieces of rosarita. Rosarita is generally no longer produced and pieces you see are from the 60's and 70's, because of the improved efficiency of gold refining. Rosarita is sometimes called "the phoenix stone" because of the way it symbolizes rising from the ashes ready for new life. When you hold this ring up to the sunlight, you can see a glowing saguaro cactus shining through.
